Kate Kleinhans, M.S., NIC
Nationally Certified ASL Interpreter
San Francisco, California

Since taking my first ASL class at 16 years old, I have been enthralled and captivated by the language and culture of my Deaf friends and colleagues. After completing an Interpreter Training Program in 2017, I shifted my focus to Deaf Education. I taught Deaf students in the bay area full-time beginning in 2019 while working as a part-time interpreter, then transitioned to interpreting full time in 2022.
I enjoy a myriad of interpreting environments, with the bulk of my experience being in higher education, mental health, and medical.
My personal interests & curiosities include human rights, equity, film photography, yoga, hiking, psychology, and cognitive science.

As an interpreter, I’m committed to RID's Interpreter Code of Conduct and my two main principles:
-
Providing the highest level of services I can
-
Continuing my own education and learning processes
